Decide when you would like your donation to be used

When donating to a Charity the funds received can end up in many different baskets or projects .

Some are special one time events or needs , others are annual funding requirements. Let's walk through a few examples :

  1. a need for Today : the Charity requires funding to add on a new roof , and has set a target of raising $50,000. They have appealed to their friends and supporters to make donations to the Roof Fixing Fund. Those donations will be spent today . If your intention is to donate to a specific Charity for a need today , we need to donate directly to the Charity . We can help you through that process.
  2. a need for Tomorrow : The Charity has ongoing expenses for leasing office space, telephone and mailing. The thought of asking volunteers to become fundraisers is just to daunting a task. By donating to the Charity's Endowment Fund , you guarantee that every year they will receive a check to help offset those expenses .
  3. a need in the Community : The Community Foundation of the North Okanagan has several funds that are designed to flow funding to a specific need in the community . These currently includes arts, environment, health , education and youth. Each year the Foundation receives requests to help with local and pressing projects . Our grants committee reviews applications and then decides which projects will receive funding. Basically you are donating to the North Okanagan Community and helping fund volunteer and charitable projects each year. Leaving the task of gathering requests, reviewing criteria , issuing funding , and follow up to the Foundations annual grants committee.
  4. create your own Endowment: You may have very specific ideas about how you would like your donation to be allocated. Perhaps a scholarship , funding for hiking trails , annual grants to the Cancer ward . The Foundation was structured to make this whole process easy and achievable.
